Programs

Our nonprofit is dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment for disabled athletes through sled hockey. We focus on outreach and advocacy to promote awareness and inclusivity, provide financial support to reduce barriers for teams, loan equipment to ensure access, and build community through events and collaboration. Our vision is to empower athletes of all abilities to feel welcomed and supported in achieving their goals.

Outreach

Our outreach program promotes broad disability awareness and the benefits of adaptive sports, with a focus on sled hockey. We highlight its advantages for disabled athletes, the barriers to participation, and the sport's physical and technical challenges. By bringing the sled hockey experience to events, we give attendees the opportunity to sit in a sled, hit a puck, and gain firsthand insight into the sport’s difficulty, the experiences of disabled athletes, and the importance of inclusivity in sports and beyond.

Advocacy

We advocate for inclusivity and accessibility in sports, ensuring opportunities for athletes of all abilities. Collaborating with USA Hockey and the Michigan Amateur Hockey Association, we work to promote and expand programs and competitions that are inclusive and adaptive, fostering a more equitable sports environment for everyone.

Financial Support

We provide financial assistance to sled hockey teams, helping to reduce barriers to participation. Sled hockey players face significantly higher costs compared to stand-up players, paying 5 to 10 times more for specialized equipment. Additionally, many players incur substantial expenses for medical supplies, mobility devices such as wheelchairs, and prosthetics. Our support ensures that athletes can focus on playing the sport they love without being held back by financial challenges.

We provide comprehensive administrative, financial, and recruitment support for the Metro Detroit Sled Hockey Teams, ensuring they have the resources and players needed to thrive both on and off the ice.

Equipment Loan Program

Our Equipment Loan Program provides athletes with access to sled hockey gear, including sleds, sticks, pads, and helmets, ensuring they have the necessary tools to participate. This program gives players time to determine what equipment works best for them and the opportunity to apply for grants to help cover the cost of custom equipment.
