As we close the chapter on the 2024-25 season, I want to take a moment to thank you — our players, families, volunteers, donors, and sponsors. Metro Detroit Sled Hockey exists because of the passion and generosity of our community, and this past year was one of growth, resilience, and joy both on and off the ice.
Highlights from the 2024-25 Season
More opportunities to play: Over the course of the year, we secured more than 50 hours of practice ice time. For our players, that meant more than 1600 hours spent developing their game, building friendships, and learning the power of teamwork.”
Growing community: We welcomed new teams, new players and families into the program, making sled hockey accessible to even more people in Metro Detroit.
Big moments: From hosting the first North American Women’s Sled Hockey tournament to competing and winning in national-level events, our athletes showed grit, teamwork, and determination every step of the way.
The Heart of Our Mission
One youth player shared: “Sled hockey taught me how to be part of a team, and how to show up as part of a team. Plus, it’s just fun!” Moments like this remind us why we do what we do.

Stewardship & Impact
Your generosity fuels our mission — in fact, 75% of our budget goes directly to programs, meaning more ice time, more opportunities, and more growth for our players.
Looking Ahead
In 2025-26, we’re excited to grow our youth program and enhance our new player experience with a new rookie program. We’re also building new partnerships to strengthen travel opportunities for our teams.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Together, we’re not just building hockey teams — we’re building community, leaders, and lifelong memories.
With gratitude,
Derek Donet
President, Metro Detroit Sled Hockey
